Vickie Cole

Vickie J. Cole, age 67, of Hays, passed away Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014 at Hays Medical center. She was born May 12, 1946 in Great Bend to Donald A. and Dorothy (Rinker) Bowsher Sr. She married Tom O. Cole on July 3, 1966 in Great Bend.



Vickie was an Executive Secretary for DaMar Resources Inc. of Hays. She was an avid dog lover and founder of the Smoky Hill Golden Retriever Club in 1999. She was also involved with C.A.R.E., which helps to find homes for displaced dogs. In 2013 over 1300 dogs were saved through her help.



Survivors include her husband, Tom of Hays; a son, Jason Cole and wife Kelly of Hays; a daughter, Shannon Bauer and husband Gary of Valley Center; a stepbrother, Donald A. Bowsher Jr and wife Twila of Great Bend and a brother-in-law, Dr. Dale Cole and wife Beverly of Salina.



Her parents and a sister, Sherry Barnett, preceded her in death.



A Celebration of Life Reception will be held from 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM Sunday, January 26th at Smoky Hill Country Club.

Memorials are suggested to the Vickie J. Cole Memorial Fund which will be used for the Hays Dog Park in her memory.
