Vica Kinderknecht, age 100, of Ellis, passed away Tuesday, June 14th at the Good Samaritan Society Ellis. She was born on June 7, 1911 in Ellis County, Kansas to Carl and Minnie (Gaschler) Landauer. She graduated in 1931 from Ellis High School. She married Philip Kinderknecht on June 24, 1935 in Ellis at St. Mary's Catholic Church.She was a homemaker and had worked as an Aide at the Ellis Good Samaritan Center for 24 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a charter member of the Ellis AARP Chapter and she enjoyed bingo and card playing.She is survived by a daughter, Lois Staab of Port St. Joe, FL; two brothers, Fritz and Rudy Landauer both of Forrest grove, OR; a sister, Rosie Spiering of Forrest Grove, OR; grandchildren, David Staab and wife Christy and children Kaitlen and Kyrsten all of Frederick, MD; Lloyd Kinderknecht and wife Jennifer and daughter, Hannah all of Tampa, FL; Shawn Brewer and husband Mark and children Katie, Julia and Sara all of Wittier, CA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Kinderknecht in 1972; a son, Dennis Kinderknecht; a grandson, Philip Staab; two brothers, Carl and Henry Landauer and two sisters, Stella Brown and Tina Sartain.Funeral services will be 9:30 am Saturday at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th Ellis, KS. 67637.Visitation will be Friday 5 pm - 7 pm with the family present from 6 pm - 7 pm at the funeral home.Memorial contributions are suggested to the Good Samaritan Society Ellis and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
