Robert L. Herl

Robert Lester Herl, age 84, of Victoria, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at his home. He was born on October 14, 1926 in rural Munjor to Joseph and Catherine (Frank) Herl. He graduated from Hays High School in 1946. He married LaVerna Marie Dreher on April 19, 1950 in Liebenthal, Kansas. He was a farmer and dairyman. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Munjor, a 3rd and 4th degree Victoria Council Knights of Columbus and the Hays Lions club. Robert was an avid baseball fan, umpire and coach.He is survived by his wife, LaVerna of the home, three sons, Kenneth (Cathy) Herl of Stratton, MO; Darrell (Kim) Herl and Robert D. (Ellie) Herl all of Hays; seven grandchildren, Shelly Dreher, Amy Bell, Kyle Herl, Justin Herl, Abby Herl, Emily Herl and Anna Herl. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren, Austin, Mackenzie and Brody Bell, Parker, Mason and Presley Dreher, Alyson and Graycee Herl and Averie Herl.He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ernest Herl; a brother, Clarence Herl and four sisters, Albina Schuckman, Bertha Schaefer, Leona Herald and Genevieve Schuckman.Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Munjor. Burial will follow services in St. Francis Cemetery in Munjor.Visitation will be Friday 3 PM - 8 PM and Saturday 8:45 AM until 9:30 AM all at Brock's North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS. 67601.A parish vigil service will be Friday at 6 PM followed by a Victoria Council 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus rosary at 6:30 PM all at the funeral home.Memorials are suggested to St. Francis if Assisi Catholic Church in Munjor or St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church in Hays.
