Richard Kathol

Richard R. Kathol, 81, passed away on Saturday, June 30th at Hays Medical Center. He was born January 17, 1931 in Hartington, NE to Paul and Theresia (Miick) Kathol. He graduated from Hartington High in 1948 and was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He married LaVonne Doane April 15, 1952.



They moved to Hays in 1964 opening Kathol Roofing and Sheet Metal. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.



He is survived by his children, Pam Deffibaugh and spouse David of Sherman TX, Brian and spouse LuCinda of Wichita, Brad of Wichita, Reginald of Hays, Sharon Sims of Sherman, TX and Tim and spouse Ann of Omaha, NE; eight grand children and three great grand children.



He was preceded in death, by his wife LaVonne in 1993; parents Paul and Theresia Kathol; brothers, Gerald, Roland and Carroll; sisters, Coletta Everton and Shirley Modeen.



Memorial services will be 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. Inurnment will follow services in St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors by the Hays VFW.



In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to the Cancer Council of Ellis County or the Humane Society of the High Plains and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
