Martha Roberts

Martha Marie Roberts, lifelong Ellis resident passed away Tuesday, August 9th at the Ellis Good Samaritan Society. She was born in rural Ellis on May 26, 1922 to Jacob and Jennie (Schoenthaler) Deutscher. She married Richard C. Roberts Sr. on November 19, 1944 in California. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1998. Martha was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis.She is survived by two sons, Richard C. Roberts Jr. and wife Gloria of Hutchinson and Kenneth Lee Roberts of Wichita; two daughters, Sharon Koch of Salina and Beverly Koerner and husband Steve of Ozawkie, KS; and a brother, Edward Deutscher of Kansas City, MO. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes Schoenthaler and a brother, Gerhardt Deutscher.Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th Ellis, KS. 67637. Inurnment will follow services in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ellis.Memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran Church of Ellis.
