Marilyn Deutscher

Marilyn Louise Deutscher, age 81, of Ellis, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015, at her home. She was born June 26, 1933, in Ellis, KS, to Daniel and Wilma (Hamburg) Schumacher. She graduated from Ellis High School in 1951. She married Emil A. Deutscher on October 24, 1954, at Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis.

Marilyn worked at Ellis State Bank before her marriage, and years later she worked for a short time at the Good Samaritan Center in Ellis. However, the calling she held most dear was as a farm wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, as well as Women of Life and the Quilting Circle at Christ Lutheran Church. She was a breast cancer survivor. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, sewing and playing pinochle. She was a devoted KU Jayhawk fan.

She is survived by a son, Bradley Emil Deutscher and wife Jill of Tulsa, OK; three daughters, Nanette Foore and husband Ron of Owasso, OK, Brenda Smith and husband Phil of Plano, TX, and Tammy Hollern and husband Marty of Ellis, KS; a brother, Danny Schumacher of Leoti, KS; a sister, Betty Wheeler of Wichita, KS; ten grandchildren, Kayla Ford and husband Scott, Shelby and Jenny Hollern, Marissa Foore, Tyler, Trenton, Justin and Anna Smith and Thomas and Michael Deutscher. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil on October 11, 2013, and her parents.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Christ Lutheran Church 106 E. 8th Ellis, KS. Burial will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday 6 PM 8 PM with a Prayer Service at 7 PM and Wednesday 9:30 AM 10:30 AM all at Christ Lutheran Church.
