Marietta Koerner

Marietta Koerner, age 79, of Hays passed away Friday, December 18, 2015 at Via Christi Village in Hays. She was born October 12, 1936 in Hays, Kansas to George and Barbara (Gassman) Younger. She attended school in Hays and graduated from Hays High in 1955. She married Alfred "Fritz" Koerner Jr. on November 18, 1957 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Hays.

Marietta was a homemaker and a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Hays. She was talented artistically and enjoyed ceramics and crafting. She was most of all an unconditionally loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Alfred "Fritz" Koerner of Hays, three daughters and spouses, Deborah and Kenneth Bush of Russell, Kansas, Lisa and Virgil Leiker and Amy and Rick Linenberger all of Hays; a sister, Katie Bitter of Ellinwood, Kansas; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a great granddaughter, Autumn Brianna Whittaker; four sisters, Cecilia Pfannenstiel, Virginia Engel, Zita Stadelman and Helen Staab as well as three brothers, Walter Younger, Bal Younger and Joseph Younger.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Hays with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday 6 PM 8 PM with a combined rosary and vigil service at 6:30 PM all at Brocks-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.

Memorials in her memory are suggested to the Cancer Council of Ellis County and may be sent in care of the funeral chapel
