Lucille Parker

Lucille Amelia (Staab) Parker, age 93 of Hays, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Via Christi Village, Hays. She was born March 21, 1921 in Severin, Kansas to Jacob and Amelia (Walters) Staab. She attended the Severin School. She married Thomas F. Parker November 11, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1982.

Lucille was a homemaker and had worked at St. Anthonys Hospital in the kitchen and then worked for Travenol from 1968 1975. At that time she became her husband Toms primary caregiver until his death in 1982. She continued her giving ways by volunteering for the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary and always took food to folks in need throughout the community. Lucille was a giving person always putting others ahead of herself. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. She is survived by five daughters, Cary and Jim Ryan of Columbus, OH, Claudia and Steve Pratt of Seattle, WA, Connie Applerouth of Vienna, VA, Christine and Tom Wasinger of Hays and Cheryl and David Noorani of North Carolina; two sons, Craig Parker of LaCrosse, KS and Curt and Jeanette Parker of Wichita, KS; 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by a son, Colin Parker; two grandchildren, Caleb and Rachel Parker; a son-in-law, Bob Applerouth; five brothers, Joseph, Seraphine, Victor, Edgar and James Parker and four sisters, Josephine Karlin, Marcella Karlin, Fedelia Karlin and Eugenia Lewis. Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday, January 24, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Hays. Visitation will be Friday 5 PM 8 PM and Saturday 9 AM 9:30 AM all at Brocks-Keithley Funeral Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601.



There will be a rosary service Friday at 6:30 PM followed by a parish vigil at 7 PM

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
