Julie A. Honas

Julie Ann (Ernst) Honas, age 53, of Ellis, passed away Monday, September 9, 2013 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center in Wichita. She was born April 28, 1960 in Hays, Kansas to Lionel "Sonny" and Mary (Cannon) Ernst. She graduated from Ellis High School in 1978. She married Stan "Buck" Honas June 20, 1981 in Russell, Kansas.

Julie was a nutrition specialist for the Ellis public school system for 17 years. She was a member of St. Marys Church and she enjoyed being grandma to her grandchildren, gardening, cooking, reading and her scratch lottery tickets.

She is survived by her husband, Stan "Buck" Honas of Ellis; a daughter, Molly Kohl and husband Jamie and children Jamison and Jett all of Ellis; a son, Cody Honas and wife Megan and children Hunter and Breckyn all of WaKeeney; her mother and step father, Mary and Don Reinhardt of Russell; two brothers, Greg Ernst of Ellis and Joe Ernst of Wilson; a sister, Kay Ickler of Russell and her father and mother in law, Oscar and Betty Honas of Ellis. She is also survived by her special companion, Koda.

Her father, Lionel Ernst, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, September 9, 2013 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Ellis with a rosary service prior to the funeral at 9:30 AM at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

There will be no visitation. Arrangements in care of Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E 17th Ellis, KS. 67637.
