Irene A. Staab, age 89, of Hays, passed away Thursday May 5th at St. John's Health Care Center in Hays. She was born on August 24, 1921 in Hays, Kansas to Mike A. and Emma (Leikam) Lang. She married Victor N. Staab in 1941. He preceded her in death in 1959.Irene worked as a hostess at the Ramada Inn and then worked for and retired from Brown's for Ladies in Hays. She was a past member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and she enjoyed playing cards, bingo and cooking for her family gatherings.She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Bieker and husband Kenneth of Ozawkie, KS. and Carol McGuire and husband Blake of Garnett, KS.; two brothers, Mike Lang Jr. of Sangar, CA. and Virgil Lang of Independence, MO.; four sisters, Edna Critchfield of Hill City, Irma Silkman of Goodland, Mary Jane Sowards of St. Louis and Pat Riat of Topeka; six grandchildren, Scott Staab and wife Julie, John Staab and wife Kristin, Christopher Bieker and wife Heather, Molly Gunter and husband Craig, Mitch McGuire and wife Teri and Jennifer Waymire and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; a son, Donald V. Staab; two brothers, Alex and Eugene Lang and three sisters, Melvine Bowman-Thomas, Emma Brungardt and Ida Groff.Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.A rosary service will be at 9:30 A.M. Monday at the church. Services in care of Brock's North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine, Hays.Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hays Medical Center or Multiple Sclerosis Society..
