Helen A. Keller, age 79, of Palco, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Via Christi Village, Hays. She was born January 19, 1937 on the family farm in rural Zurich, Kansas in Rooks, County to Miles Adrian and Ruth Maxine (McCauley) Warren. She married Edward Arthur Keller June 18, 1953 in Hays, Kansas at the United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1985.

Helen was a lifelong farmer and stockman. She worked diligently on the farm always making sure her land was farmed perfectly. She took great pride in her cattle herd knowing each animal by their markings, name or number. Helen and Ed Keller established Keller Tank Service in 1957. She was a very active member of St. Johns Lutheran Church where she was the first elected female church council member. She was also involved in WELCA and taught Sunday School as well. Helen enjoyed baking and sewing and would often stay up through the night working on these projects. She also loved music, dancing, and cooking shows. Family was very important to Helen as she always treasured phone calls and visits.

She is survived by a son, Darrell (Johni) Keller of Zurich; two daughters, Beverly (Jerry) Armbruster of WaKeeney and Brenda (Jerry) Lucas of Palco; a brother, Jackie Warren of Plainville; a sister, Pat Wendling of Palco; grandchildren, Katie Keller (Chris Dreiling) of Victoria, Charlie (Jessica) Keller of Hays, Sarah Jo Cearley of Hays, Dustin (Wendy) Armbruster of Hays, Travis Armbruster of San Diego, Kacey Armbruster and fiance, Tommy Slivinski of Los Angeles, Anthony (Christie) Lucas of Ottawa, Andrea (Jack) McMahon of Mission, Andrew Lucas of Kansas City, MO and Emily Lucas of Midland, MI. as well as 7 great grandchildren ( Jace, Heidi, Alexx, Morgan, Paityn, Jada, and Allie.)

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Arthur Keller, a grandson, Douglas Keller, a granddaughter, Ginny Keller and a sister, Jeanne Boucher.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, April 11, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church located 7 1/2 miles North of Ellis.

Visitation will be Sunday 4 PM - 8 PM at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E 17th Street Ellis, KS 67637. and Monday 9:30 AM until service time at the church.

A prayer service will be 7 PM Sunday at the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Johns Lutheran Church.
