Fred Dale Watson, age 86, of Hays, passed away Saturday, April 30th at Hays Medical Center. He was born November 29, 1924 in Rosiclare, ILL. To Fred and Mertie (Conger) Watson. He married Elaine Ingram on December 15, 1948 in Tribune, Kansas.He worked for the Dighton School District for 23 years in the custodian and maintenance department. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and the Perpetual Eucharistic Adorers. Fred enjoyed doing yard work and gardening, collecting antiques, woodworking and he especially enjoyed being a grandpa.Fred is survived by his wife, Elaine of Hays; a son, Roger Watson of Ellis; four daughters, Debbie Rixon and husband Craig of McCracken, Leann Hughes and husband Walter of Oakley, Janiece Bradstreet and husband Bill of Ellis and Vanessa Reed and husband Henry of Kalvesta; two sisters, Mercedes Rayburn of Smithland, KY. and Omalee Dixon of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Donald and four sisters, Velda Kelley, Corine York, Gracie Hedgepath and Deanie Wallace.Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays. Burial will follow services in St. Joseph's Cemetery.Visitation will be today 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday 9:00 A.M. - 9:30 A.M. all at Brock's North Hill Chapel ~ 2509 Vine ~ Hays, KS. 67601.There will be an Adorers rosary at 4:00 P.M. today and parish wake service at 7:00 P.M. both at the funeral home. Due to Vine street construction use 22nd street to Pine, go north to 26th and then right to the funeral home. Contributions are suggested to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
