Fred May

Fred A. May, age 92 of Ellis, died Tuesday, June 30th, 2009 at the Ellis Good Samaritan Center. He was born on November 24, 1916 in Minnesota to Fred and Minnie (Armbrister) May. He married Ila Rose Harshbarger on October 27, 1939 in Ellis, Kansas. She preceded him in death on July 5th, 2000. In 1936 he graduated from Ellis High School, He was an Engineer for Union Pacific Railroad for thirty years. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis. He is survived by two sons, Leon May of Gilbert Arizona and Stephen May of Sterling, Colorado; a daughter, Barbara Kroeger of Wichita; three sisters, Amilia Hamrick of Florida, Margaret Stiffler and Alma Kelly both of Ellis; five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Ten brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
