Dorothy Frances Mary Herl

Dorothy Frances Mary (Karlin) Herl, age 87, of Ogallah, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney. She was born November 10, 1924 in the family home in Catharine, Kansas to Anton A. and Pauline (Grabbe) Karlin. She married Alvin Kenneth Joseph Herl on November 20, 1945 in St. Catherine Catholic Church, Catharine, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1998.



She was a homemaker, a member of St. Mary's Catholich Church of Ellis, Christian Mothers since 1959, and St. Marys SDCCW.



She is survived by three sons, Ronald Herl and wife Karen, Donald Herl, Alvin K. Herl Jr. and wife Amy all of Ellis; three daughters, Jeanette Augustine and husband Charles of Ellis, Joyce Kinderknecht and husband Kenneth of Collyer and Joan Neufeldt and husband Donovan of Moundridge, Kansas; a sister, Pauline Dinkel of Victoria. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer) Augustine, Michelle (Craig) Goldsberry, Jessica (Jason ) Augustine-Stegman, Tony R. (Christy Cousins) Knouf, Aaron Herl, Alyssa Herl, Jared Herl, Katelyn Herl, Ryan Herl, John Kinderknecht and Nicole Neufeldt; five great grandchildren, Samantha, Emily and Nathaniel Augustine, Cale Joseph Goldsbury and Khloe Knouf.



She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Helen Sander, Fidelia Brungardt; brothers, Gilbert, Edwin and Fidelis William Karlin and twins Francis and Mary Karlin.



Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday at St. mary's catholic Church in Ellis. Burial will be in St. mary's Cemetery.



Visitation will be Wednesday 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis, KS. 67637.



A parish vigil service will be Wednesday at 6:30 P.M. at the funeral home.



Contributions are suggested to the Dorothy Herl memorial fund to be designated at a later date.
