Doris Kohlrus

Doris M. Kohlrus, age 73, of Hays, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society, Ellis. She was born April 2, 1940 in Victoria, Kansas to Emmanuel and Amelia (Scheck) Lang. She married Jacob F. Kohlrus on April 25, 1959 at St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria. He preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 1991.

She was a homemaker and a housekeeper working at St. Johns of Hays. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Daughters of Isabella, Ellis AARP, Eagles Auxiliary of WaKeeney and participated at the Hays Senior Center. She was a collector of cookbooks and enjoyed baking, playing bingo and an occasional casino trip.

She is survived by two sons, Jerry Kohlrus (Aleta) of Alva, OK. and Jeff Kohlrus of Oacoma, S.D., a daughter, Linda Willbanks (Roger) of Alva, OK., two sisters, Jeanette Jacobs of Topeka and Darlene Leiker of Council Grove, KS.; a sister-in-law, Toni Lang of Hays; five grandchildren, Kristina Miller (Randon), David Kohlrus (Amber), Nicole Dixson (Jeff), Ethan Brooks and Trevor Kohlrus. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews as well as many beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Francis Lang and two sisters, Bernadette Kretzer and Lillian Hoff.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 13th at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays. Burial will follow in St. Fidelis Cemetery in Victoria.

Visitation will be Wednesday 4 PM 8 PM and Thursday 9 AM 9:30 AM all at Brocks North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS. 67601.

A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be Wednesday at 6:30 PM followed by a parish vigil service at 7:00 PM all at the funeral home.
