Don E. Kohl

Don E. "Duck" Kohl, 67, of Parsons, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at his home. He was born on December 6, 1949 in Hays to Ray and Lorine (Gottschalk) Kohl. He grew up in Ellis and attended St. Marys Catholic School and St. Josephs Military Academy in Hays. He graduated from St. Josephs in 1968. He attended the Wichita Business College where he studied computer technology. Don and Linda Wasinger were married on August 30, 1969 in Hays, Kansas. They later divorced.

Don served in the United States Army National Guard from 1971 until 1978. He moved to Denver in 1972 where he worked for the Affiliated Bank Group and then moved to Greeley in 1978. He moved back to Hays in 1988, where he worked for Collins Consulting out of Dodge City, as an IT Specialist. He moved to Parsons in 2005 where he was the IT manager for SKIL Resource Center. He retired in 2015. He is survived by his son, Brian Kohl of Bentonville, AR; his daughter, Amy Hoefer, and her husband, Chris of Benton; four grandchildren, Cody Hoefer, Jake Hoefer, Kyndal Kohl and Kali Kohl; five brothers, Gary Kohl, and his wife, Donna of Ellis, his twin, Ron Kohl, and his wife Debbie of Cape Coral, FL; Glen Kohl of Ellis, Whitey Kohl, and his wife Julie of Ellis, and Wayne Kohl, and his wife, Cheryl of Greeley, CO; two sisters, Sharon Schumacher of Greeley, CO and Lou Ann Kibbee, and her husband, Larry of Hays, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Tim and Anthony Kohl. Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Friday, February 3, 2017 at the St. Marys Catholic Church in Ellis. Inurnment will follow in the St. Marys Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday 5pm-8pm with a combined parish vigil and rosary service at 7 PM all at the church.
