Charles Vern Rogers

Charles Vern Rogers, age 73, of Hays, passed away Friday March 11, 2016 at Via Christi Village, Hays. He was born January 7, 1943 in Womer, Kansas to Milton and Theo (Jones) Rogers. He graduated from Esbon High School and Brown Macke Business College. He married Darlene Ann Wolf March 30, 1990 at the United Methodist Church in Hays.

Charles had worked for Kleerwater Pools and Spas and also for Enersys for 15 years. He enjoyed gourmet cooking, gardening, reading and he was an accomplished artist emphasizing in Acrylic paintings.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene of Hays; daughter, Jacqueline (Shannon) Eakin of Hays; three brothers, Jim Rogers of Smith Center, Jeff (Janice)Rogers of Manhattan and Jerry (Jan) Rogers of Chanute; two sister-in-laws, Rita Bell of the Good Samaritan Society, Ellis and Johanna Rogers of Blue Springs, MO; grandchildren, Cody Johnson, Cassandra Johnson and Brandon Kahrs all of Hays; great grandchildren, Emry Lundy, Jazmine and Lucas Lynd all of Hays as well as his dog, Jesse.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step son, Joseph Jacobs III; brother, Merlin Rogers; sister and brother-in-law, Karla and Ken Johanek; sister-in-law, Lela Rogers and his pet dog, Gus.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601. Burial will follow services in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hays.

Visitation will be Tuesday 4 PM - 7 PM and Wednesday 9:30 AM until service time all at the funeral chapel.

A vigil service will be 7 PM Tuesday at the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the family and will be designated at a later date.
