Robert Lee “Bob” Aschenbrenner, age 77, of Ellis, Kansas passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018 in Ellis. He was born November 27, 1940 in WaKeeney, Kansas to Anthony and Mary (Reitmeier) Aschenbrenner. He graduated from Brownell High School in 1958. On November 25, 1961 he married Rosetta Schmidt.
Bob was the owner of Bob’s Repair and Service and owned the Skelly service station in Ellis for many years. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle, fishing and hunting and playing cards. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis and the Ellis Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Rosetta Aschenbrenner of Ellis; two sons, Ricky Aschenbrenner of Wichita and Roy Aschenbrenner and wife Holly of Ellis; two daughters, Rose Hertel and husband Jeff of Ellis and Rhonda Hadley and husband Evan of Hays; a brother, LeRoy Aschenbrenner and wife Lois of Ogallah, KS; a sister, Mary Jane Cunningham of WaKeeney, KS; a sister-in-law, Carol Aschenbrenner of Denver, CO; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Robinson, David Bieker, Jessica Brazda, Kyle Hadley, Sarah Pletcher, Becca Bittel, Hannah Aschenbrenner and Hayden Aschenbrenner as well as four great grandchildren, Hadlee Brazda, Emma Bieker, Jace Brazda and Camilla Robinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and George Aschenbrenner, a sister, Charlotte Meiar; two brother-in-laws, Alfred Meiar and Sam Cunningham.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ellis, KS.
A rosary service will be Wednesday at 10 AM at the church.
